We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual with at least 2 years of diverse farming experience who will take the lead role in implementing the farms production plan for the 2018 season.
The Assistant Manager is an essential part of our farm team. The position requires attention to detail, an efficient and strong work ethic, great communication skills, and the capacity to operate independently to make decisions while also being open to others sharing ideas and/or concerns to further the success of the farm.
Greenhouse Management – Organize and lead the seeding, potting up, and care of annual and perennial plants for both the field and market. Attention to detail is a must.
Field Production Management – Organize and manage successive seedings and transplantings in the field, cultivation schedule and priorities, field irrigation, and monitoring for disease and pests.
High Tunnel Management– Focused mainly on tomato production: planting, trellising, pruning, irrigation, and disease and pest management.
Harvest/ Washroom Management – Organize and manage daily harvest, quality control, preparation of produce for farmers’ market, CSA and restaurants. Maintain washroom cleanliness and order, and develop protocols to increase efficiency. Implement food safety guidelines.
Record Keeping – As a certified organic farm, thorough record keeping is essential for our certification. In addition, it’s also a very important part of keeping the farm profitable, and to further improve our methods and overall sustainability.
Duration: March 15 - November 15
Salary: $12-$15/hour depending on experience
Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday, Saturdays when needed
